I teach English communication, literature (UK / Irish) and academic skills. In communication classes, I try to encourage students to speak as much as possible by making the lesson as interesting and fun as possible. We often practice language used for real-life situations, so we also need to act as well as speak. A good balance between all four language skills is important: reading, speaking, writing and listening. I hope to have elements in all classes, but with emphasis on spoken communication. Regarding other classes, literature and post-grad studies, I am passionate about literature and academic studies, too. I believe literature to be a very exciting area of study, and believe in encouraging a very interactive, two-way manner of learning. In the literature class, we look at a number of short stories and poems specially chosen in order to illustrate a range of essential elements. I want students to see the stories and poems as something which has relevance for them. For academic skills classes, I draw upon my own experience of publishing papers and giving presentations at conferences etc..I teach English communication, literature (UK / Irish) and academic skills. I have published on a number of different topics (including football and pirates!), but basically have three main areas of interest: Medieval English Literature, James Joyce, and Irish poetry.I have published on a number of different topics (including football and pirates!), but basically have three main areas of interest: Medieval English Literature, James Joyce, and Irish poetry.
